An Under-$20 Champagne Challenger
Faire la Fête Brut burst on the scene when it made Robb Report’s list of 20 Best Wines under $100.
But by then, we’d been crushing this bubbly for years.
Master Sommelier Peter Neptune called Faire la Fête “as good or better than most non-vintage Brut Champagne that I’ve tasted, at one-third the price.” The last time we offered a Faire la Fête wine, Wine Access bubble-hounds cleared out our inventory in no time, sending back reviews that said: “We will for sure get a case the next time this one comes around.”
Despite its deep roots, Crémant de Limoux might still be one of the least appreciated wine categories in France. The area’s been making sparkling wine since 1531, when Benedictine monks in a nearby abbey wrote down the first known recipe for bubbly. Limoux winemakers thus have generations of knowledge to draw from—and that expertise is apparent in the region’s fantastic crémants.
Faire la Fête’s quaffable complexity and versatile food-friendliness has led major restaurant groups such as Morimoto to make Faire la Fête a mainstay of their by-the-glass program. Crafted from sustainably farmed and hand-harvested grapes, the Faire la Fête comprises 70% Chardonnay, 20% Chenin Blanc, and 10% Pinot Noir. Made in the time-honored méthode traditionnelle, the wine is aged on the lees for 15 months before release, allowing the mousse to fully develop in the bottle.
This bottle is perfect for toasting family and friends or pairing with everything from toro tartare to Southern-fried chicken—and it stands up to non-vintage Champagnes two and three times the price.
