The Story

Crafted by legendary Champagne house Bollinger, Langlois-Château’s Brut is one of the most popular wines in our history—pleasing the most ardent “Champagne snobs” (their words, not ours). As one put it, Langlois-Château “could easily be confused for a high-end Champagne.” Their rosé, a blend of 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Pinot Noir, delivers WAY beyond its category and price.

Wine Access Tasting Note

Pale salmon-copper color. A lively nose, with a delightful mix of wild strawberry, rose petal, dried thyme, white tea, touches of fresh cream, and tangerine peel. The wine builds on the palate with more pink apple flesh, lemon oil, strawberry, orange sherbet, and crushed limestone. Delivers above and beyond the category, with a soft mousse and a long finish. Expertly crafted. Drink now–2025.

Bollinger Champagne’s Standards, Top Loire Terroir

The word “Champagne” refers to much more than a region and style. It represents a stringent set of winemaking standards that dictates yields, pressing, aging—factors that all go into Champagne’s typically daunting price.

Makers of Crémant, the more affordable Champagne-style sparkling wine made elsewhere in France, are permitted to cut some corners. But Langlois’ Rosé Crémant de Loire adheres to Champagne standards, which is what makes it such an impressive value.

Crafted by legendary Champagne house Bollinger, Langlois' Brut is one of the most popular wines in our history. It has racked up over 350 four- and five-star reviews, pleasing the most ardent “Champagne snobs” (their words, not ours). As one put it, their bubbly “could easily be confused for a high-end Champagne.”

Langlois, which Wine Access members first knew as Langlois-Chateau, has a storied past that dates back to 1912, when Edouard Langlois and Jeanne Chateau founded the winery. It eventually became a Loire Valley standard-bearer. In 1973, the Bollinger family joined as investors, revitalizing and modernizing the vineyards and cellar. Now they own and manage 175 prime acres in the Loire’s best AOCs, and they hold a “Terra Vitis” sustainability certification.

For this Crémant—the Loire wine most closely associated with the bottles that made Langlois famous—they utilize a beautifully precise 2:1 ratio of Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. The grapes come from chalky-clay soils, and the wine gets its color from 12–15 hours on the skins.

Hand-harvested, gently pressed, and put through secondary fermentation in the bottle, Langlois' Rosé shows beautifully layered depth. Complex enough to pour for discerning dinner guests but affordable enough to drink every weeknight, it’s a bubbly-lover’s dream.
