The Story

Laurent Montalieu is the man behind Soléna, our top-selling Oregon wine, so when he recommends something, we listen. Voix de la Vigne, made by Laurent’s right-hand man Bruno Corneaux, is an unabashedly Burgundian take on Willamette Pinot. It has one of our most popular Oregon bottles since we introduced it, and the 2023 is absolutely stellar—silky and refined, the product of one of the state’s best vintages ever.

Wine Access Tasting Note

A translucent ruby hue. Expressive bouquet of red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, and forest floor, with notes of baking spice, dried thyme, and a subtle hint of orange peel adding dimension. The palate is lively and refined, showing bright acidity and silky tannins that frame flavors of pomegranate, raspberry tea, and a whisper of cedar. Graceful and balanced, with a gentle earthiness and a lingering, spice-kissed finish. Drink now–2029.

When Laurent Calls, We Pick Up

When Laurent Montalieu calls, we pick up.

The man behind Soléna, Laurent is our direct line to some of the most overachieving Pinot Noirs made in Willamette Valley. Not only does he make our all-time bestselling Pinot Noir, he also runs a Willamette co-op winemaking facility where he and his clients have created a staggering 400 wines of 90+ points.

Two years ago, Laurent called to introduce us to Voix de la Vigne, made by his right-hand man, Bruno Corneaux. We’ve been excited about the 2023 ever since we tasted it out of barrel last winter. The product of one of Willamette Valley’s finest years, when a warm vintage and unusually dry conditions helped produce tiny berries with fantastic concentration and electric acidity, it has all the qualities we look for in the very top examples of Oregon Pinot.

When we tasted the final product last week, it was clear Corneaux delivered on every ounce of potential. With swirling aromatics of red fruit and exotic spices preceding a palate with layer after layer of complexity and refined tannins, it’s an elegant, ethereal, and refreshing Pinot—one that demands another pour right after the first is gone.

Take a look at Laurent’s Willamette Valley empire—which includes Domaine Danielle Laurent, Hyland, and Domaine Loubejac—and you’ll understand why Voix de la Vigne is such an overachiever, especially in a vintage gaining attention as one of the best in recent memory. It was a Goldilocks year that had just enough heat to drive ripeness, but perfectly timed rains and healthy plants to preserve brightness, plus plenty of hang-time for grapes to ensure complexity in the bottle.
