Story
Vice Versa is a Napa Valley boutique winery founded by former Montreal software entrepreneur Patrice Breton. In the early 2000s, Breton collaborated with winemaking great Paul Hobbs on Cabernet Sauvignon. Chardonnay is a new venture for Breton, who started with a tiny amount made in 2009 that he sold to a few close contacts in Canada the following year. We are excited to be one of the few U.S. outlets to whom Breton has chosen to sell his second vintage of Chardonnay. He sourced grapes for this limited-production wine from a single vineyard in the Napa subregion of Yountville, an official wine district that yields some of Napa’s most exciting offerings. This peachy Chardonnay gets its vibrance not just from the ideal growing conditions of the Beard Vineyard but also from how it was made: while most Chardonnays spend time aging in oak barrels, a process that adds notes of vanilla and toast, it was aged instead in steel tanks.
