Additional Wine Information

Story
Incorporating solar power, biodiesel fuel and sheep that “mow” cover crops, Robert Sinskey Vineyards is an influential earth-friendly winery in Napa Valley’s Los Carneros region. Owners Robert and Maria Helm Sinskey oversee more than 200 acres of organically farmed vineyards. This red blend takes its inspiration from Bordeaux’s Pomerol region, using Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to add heft to plummy Merlot. Its name-“POV”-comes from the Sinskeys’ belief that the finest wine is an expression of a particular point of view. The view of the couple and winemaker Jeff Virnig is that the best wines are elegantly structured and food-friendly. This helps explain their attachment to Los Carneros, whose near-constant winds and regular fog keep grapes from overripening, preserving food-friendly acidity. The POV cuvée features Robert Sinskey’s own black-and-white photographs on the label.
Sense
Spice and herb notes edge fruity currant scents.
Savor
This polished red is built to accompany food, with crisp, medium-bodied red and black currant flavors inflected with notes of cedar and herbs.
Serve
Simply prepared red-meat dishes make a terrific accompaniment to this red blend. Try the Robert Sinskey POV with hearty beef, lamb, pork or game dishes accented with earthy, pungent and herbaceous ingredients that will set off the fruit flavors. Excellent choices include olives, mushrooms, fresh and dried herbs, eggplant, fennel, onions and garlic.
