Additional Wine Information

Story
Known as Pinot Grigio in Italy, the Pinot Gris grape makes a different wine entirely when grown in the cool mountainous terrain of France's Alsace region. Pinot Gris bottlings range from bone-dry to sweet; this one from the Robert Klingenfus estate has a touch of sweetness that's typical for Alsace. Run by fourth-generation proprietors Robert and Antoine Klingenfus, the winery adheres to certified-organic methods in its vineyards and processing. First noted as a prime vineyard in 1316, Bruderthal ("valley of the brothers") was tended for centuries by Cistercian monks. Its southeast-facing slopes soak up sunshine, resulting in riper grapes and more intense wines. The long hang-time on the vine shows in this opulent offering.
Sense
Aromas of orange blossom and honeyed apricots mingle with cinnamon spice.
Savor
This wine offers juicy orange and tropical fruit flavors with gentle acidity. Despite its sweetness, the wine finishes dry, with lingering ripe fruit.
Serve
Play to the wine's silky texture, touch of sugar and richness by pairing it with foods that share these characteristics. Chicken, seafood or veal dishes enriched with cheese or cream fall into this category, especially when accompanied by mild fruit salsas or vegetables with high natural sweetness. Alternatively, allow the wine to complement highly seasoned dishes like seafood, poultry and white meats with spices or fresh herbs.
Serving Instructions
Serve well chilled: refrigerate the bottle for 45 minutes before serving.
