Story
There’s a reason Pinot Noir is a sommelier favorite: its smooth tannins and crisp berry flavors make it particularly food-friendly. For sommeliers like Joshua Klapper, the founder of La Fenêtre, a wine’s ability to complement food is paramount. Klapper made a name for himself by creating a world-class wine list at one of Los Angeles’ most acclaimed restaurants, Sona. He then followed his passion for Pinot Noir to Santa Barbara County, where he used his finely honed palate to craft Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. Delicious on their own, Klapper’s wines come alive in the presence of food. He created this Pinot Noir exclusively for us, using prime fruit from a handful of prestigious cool-climate vineyards on the California coast. Displaying a finesse far beyond its modest price, this blend impressed us with its cherry-driven flavors and silky texture.
Sense
Intense cherry and red-berry flavors have a finish redolent of red fruit, vanilla and spice.
Savor
A swirl of the glass releases vibrant spicy aromas of cherries, anise and orange zest.
Serve
La Fenêtre À Côté Pinot Noir’s rich berry flavors and mild tannins make it especially versatile at the table. It will pair beautifully with everything from salmon and tuna to duck, pork and poultry. The earthy tones in mushrooms and truffles are a classic match with Pinot; try the wine with Wild Mushroom Risotto, White Lasagna with Mushrooms and Prosciutto or Braised Salmon and Shiitakes. You could also try a meat-and-fruit combination like Pork Medallions with Roasted Figs or Roast Chicken and Bread Salad, which contains currants. You’ll find these recipes at williams-sonoma.com.
