Additional Wine Information

Led by owner and vineyard manager Anne Moller-Racke, Donum has become one of Sonoma’s brightest rising stars. German-born Moller-Racke honed her skills managing the vast Carneros vineyards of Sonoma’s historic Buena Vista Winery for 18 years. While there, she absorbed lessons from three of California’s most influential viticulturalists, including the legendary Andre Tchelistcheff. When the Racke family sold Buena Vista in 2001, they retained a prized 70-acre parcel that today is one of the three vineyards from which Donum wines are made. This seductive Pinot Noir is sourced from the newest Donum site, an 11-acre vineyard in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley that’s planted to two different Pinot clones. Donum wines owe their excellence to superb terroirs, Moller-Racke’s obsessive vinekeeping and the talent of consulting winemaker Kenneth Juhasz (who’s also the winemaker and owner of the boutique label Auteur).
Plum and cherry notes carry a touch of herbs and earth.
Wild cherry, plum and spice flavors are concentrated and beautifully balanced.
Typical of Pinot Noir, the Donum will go with a wide range of dishes. Its fruitforwardness and full palate make it a natural partner to poultry, duck breast and pork. Herby and fruit-based sauces and chutneys will provide contrasting or complementary matches to the wine’s rich berry notes. Given its flavors, balanced structure and mild tannins, the wine will also work well with vegetables like beets, sweet potatoes and mushrooms. Visit williams-sonoma. com for recipes like Braised Chicken with Mushrooms, and Allspice Duck with Braised Bok Choy.
