Additional Wine Information

Story
French estate Domaine Boudau is located near the Spanish border, in the Côtes du Roussillon, a subzone of the Languedoc-Roussillon appellation. Here, the cooling breezes of the Mediterranean Sea are essential to growing high-quality grapes. The Cuvée Henri Boudau- the winery’s reserve bottling-is named after Henri Boudau, son of winery founder Hippolyte Boudau. Henri died suddenly in 1967, leaving a young family and a struggling estate whose management fell to his widow, Anne-Marie. In 1993, his children, Véronique and Pierre, took over, eventually transforming the small estate into an up-and-coming name in the area. Grapes for this bottling came from select vineyards in the northern half of the region-Côtes du Roussillon-Villages. Offering firm tannins and spicy, muscular heft, Syrah forms the backbone of the blend, while supple Grenache adds a fruity roundness.
Sense
The nose reveals spicy, smoky plum and blackberry scents.
Savor
This mouth-filling red unfurls velvety, spicy flavors of baked plums and cracked black pepper.
Serve
The Cuvée Henri Boudau exhibits a savory, earthy quality that is wonderfully complemented by lamb, aged pork roasts and game. Accents of fresh herbs will pick up on the varietal’s herbaceous nature, while black pepper will play to the wine’s spicy side. The wine will harmonize beautifully with smooth pan sauces, gravies and creamy starches such as mashed potatoes and risottos.
