Story
The Montepulciano grape of Abruzzo makes one of the most famous wines in Italy. The region's vineyards are ideally located between the land and the sea. The Apennine mountain range consists of a series of rolling hills that make their way down to the ocean. Flooded with light, these slopes offer an ideal climate for viticulture: cool mountain air blended with mild Mediterranean breezes. The sandy limestone soils are optimum terrain for growing Montepulciano, which develops great fruitiness while maintaining acidity. Cantina Tollo is a cooperative that started with just 19 members in 1960 but now has over 1,200 small farmers. Fruit is contributed from many different terroirs, making this wine a snapshot of the region around the town of Tollo. The fullness of its flavors and the length and persistence of its finish indicate that the wine will continue to develop for another five years in bottle.

Black plum and cherry aromas blend with hints of pine, smoke and espresso.
