Story
Unlike its French counterpart, Argentine Malbec offers exuberant fruit, a velvety texture and a characteristic spiciness. Valle Las Nencias wines come from Mendoza, Argentina’s largest and most respected wine region. Within Mendoza, winemakers like Hector Durigutti, the star consultant behind Las Nencias, have zeroed in on subregions such as the Uco Valley, a high-altitude rift in the Andean foothills irrigated by snowmelt. The valley’s high rocky desert offers hot summer days and chilly mountain nights-the kind of temperature swings that help develop ideally flavored grapes. Durigutti made his reputation as the winemaker at Altos Las Hormigas, one of Argentina’s top estates. At Valle Las Nencias, he crafted this wine using grapes from a single large vineyard near the town of La Consulta, then applied traditional techniques- like fermenting grapes using wild yeasts-to yield a deeply fruity and lightly spicy red.

Black fruit and mocha scents have a spicy tobacco- and mace-edged lift.
